A new youth theatre group and drama class will be accepting students at Notts Arts Theatre in September
2014. The class which will run from 11.05am-12.30pm on Saturdays will be
taught by professional actors and directors from Class Act Drama Centre. The
group will start work upon adapted shows such as Charlie & Choc Factory,
Grimm Tales, The Witches & Oliver which
will be performed on stage next year. No experience is necessary and beginners are welcome. Places are available for 6 to 17
years with age groups taught separately. As places are limited auditions will
be held on the 6th of September at Nottingham Arts Theatre, 12 George Street, Nottingham NG1
3BE stage door from 9.30am-1.30pm , booking is highly recommended.
priority will be given to those who have booked places, with 5 minute slots
available per performer. To avoid disappointment please organise an audition by
completing the instructions below. Please note it is unlikely that those
attending on the day without a booking will be seen.

informed, please do not submit your form
until you have done so. Those applying for a place under the ages of 18 must
have parental permission to attend. If you are allocated a time slot and cannot
attend please let organisers know promptly so that your place can be offered to
another candidate on the waiting list, contact details will be supplied when
your audition confirmation is sent. Audition pieces will be sent to you based
upon your age and gender. Please

Questions & Answers
How long are the auditions and what should I
audition will last for approximately 5 mins before a selected audition panel.
You will receive an audition script, which will be emailed to you with your
confirmed time for your audition. It will not be compulsory to learn lines,
although it would be preferred. One of our staff will read in for any other
parts that are required in your audition script. Spare copies will be available
at the audition should you forget yours. Please bring a copy of your
confirmation details with you. You will receive a formal offer within 14
days of your audition either by post or email. We anticipate that from the time
you book in to the time your audition will be completed will be 15 mins in

metered paid parking is available close to the theatre. Closest car-parks can
be found opposite Oceana Nightclub on Lower Parliament Street and underground
parking at the Victoria Centre Carpark entrance via Glasshouse Street
Locating Audition Room
enter via the stage door which can be found on Old Lenton Street at the side of
the theatre. Access will be unavailable from the front of the building. Please
follow signs upon your arrival.
What the panel are looking for at audition ?
panel of experienced directors and tutors are looking for enthusiastic actors
to work with, who are willing to learn and who show a natural ability in front
of an audience, experience is not necessary and they look forward to working
with complete beginners or those who have had previous experience. Directors
from the theatre and film industry, including experienced acting coaches and
chaperones will sit on the audition panel, who will include directors from
Class Act Drama Centre and B9 Films & Media. Collectively they will
share over 30 years worth of relevant experience whilst still attempting to
make candidates feel as relaxed and as comfortable as possible ensuring the
very best from audition performances.
If I am successful what will happen ?

have a limited amount of places and it is with regret that we cannot offer
places to all candidates. Further auditions will be available throughout the
year for new projects if you are unsuccessful the first time around.

Act Drama Centre has been established for over 18 years and works with both
young people and adults on a variety of drama projects, producing 30 stage
shows per year and offering professional training from industry directors,
actors and tutors. Class Act’s staff are trained to post-graduate level,
CRB checked and members of Equity. Class Act have offered drama training at
Nottingham Arts Theatre for over 15 years and are now creating a brand new
theatre class for newcomers as our older members are now eligible for adult
groups or other projects. Class Act Drama Centre is also affliated with Class
Act Film Workshops which offers Acting For Camera classes which culminate in
How much does it cost ? Subscriptions & Funding
Act Drama Centre’s collaborative projects are not reliant on external funding.
Each member of the new theatre group will have a membership subscription of
£39 per calendar month for their training and participation in the group and
related project from Sept 2014 to late Spring 2015. Successful siblings will be offered a discounted rate. There are 5
scholarship places that provide free training for successful members who are
not in a financial position to contribute to subscriptions, please see the
section below. Subscriptions include weekly training in a theatre class taught
by trained members of staff, copies of scripts & materials, copies of
royalty free materials, access to equipment and rehearsal rooms. Other costs
will include a one off performance fee of £35 for each member which is payable
before a show and which covers technical crew’s costs and expenses, costume
& prop provision where relevant, extra rehearsal time, and insurances. Tickets
for families and friends to see performances cost £8 each.
Funding for scholarships
are 5 scholarship places that provide free training for successful members who
are not in a financial position to contribute to fees. Funding is competitive,
will require means testing and cannot be guaranteed. Funding for individual
scholarships may be offered as a full or partial scholarship and is offered by
the contributions of private individuals into Class Act Drama Centre’s
When shows take place, how does the schedule work ?
